Join us for VVC Brass Day 2024!


Spend the day with VVC Music and participate in a fun day full of everything Brass! Participants will perform in the evening concert as well as attend instrument-focused masterclasses, attend warm-up and breathing sessions, and participate in Brass Choir rehearsals. The event is free and open to brass players of all ages (high school skill level or higher recommended).



Schedule

9-9:30am: Meet and Greet, Donuts, Coffee, Water

9:30am-10:30am: Breathing Exercises/Group Warm-up

10:30am-12:30pm: Group Rehearsal 1

11:30am-12:30pm, Vendors Exhibit Open

12:30-1:30pm: Lunch

1:30-2:30pm: Masterclasses, [Breakout sessions on different instruments] (Building 20)

2:30-5pm: Group Rehearsal 2, PAC

5-6:30pm: Dinner 

6:30-7:30pm: Concert, PAC

Meet the Clinicians!

Dr. Angela Romero  |  Trumpet

Dr. Angela Romero, a native of Southern California, began playing trumpet at age 13. Angela received her BA in music from Cal State Fullerton, and went on to receive a MM in performance from Mannes College of Music in New York City. While in New York, Angela held a position with the Da Capo Opera orchestra. Upon returning to California, she continued her studies at the University of Southern California, earning a DMA in 2011. In 2009, Angela held a position with the Atlanta Opera Orchestra in Georgia. As an active freelance player in Los Angeles, she has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, Pasadena Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, and renowned artists, such as Elton John, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael McDonald, Itzhak Perlman, and John Williams. In her spare time, Angela enjoys cooking, camping, fishing, tennis, kayaking, and spending time with her toddler and husband.

Danielle Ondarza  |  Horn

Danielle Ondarza is a horn player based in Los Angeles. As a freelancer, she performs with many orchestras in Southern California, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Opera, and the Pacific Symphony. She is a member of the orchestras for the Los Angeles Master Chorale and Opera Santa Barbara. 

Film and television credits include Wish, Elemental, Nope, Spider Man: Far From Home, Coco, Finding Dory, Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Orville, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Pop credits inlcude dates for Mary J. Blige, Michael Buble, Barry Manilow, Madonna, Sia, and Justin Timberlake. She has been heard on stage with Billie Eilish, Andrea Bocelli, Mariah Carey, Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra Jr., Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keyes, Queen Latifah, Idina Menzel, Kanye West, and Juan Gabriel; the Academy Awards telecast, the American Music Awards, American Idol, and The Voice

Danielle has performed as principal for broadway shows in the city's top houses (Pantages and Ahmanson Theatres and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts). Additionally, she played principal horn for Josh Groban on his Straight to You Tour, traveling for six months throughout the United States and Europe.

Dr. Lori Stuntz  |  Trombone/Low Brass


Lori Stuntz is a freelance trombonist in the greater Los Angeles area. She has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the USC Thornton School of Music, where she also received her Master of Music. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from San Jose State University. Lori plays principal trombone with the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony, trombone with the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra, and frequently performs with many orchestras including the Santa Barbara Symphony, Riverside Philharmonic, and Symphony Silicon Valley. Dr. Stuntz is on the faculty at Cal Poly Pomona, Mount San Antonio College, and Los Angeles City College.


As a commercial player, Lori plays lead trombone for the all female big band Maiden Voyage and has performed with artists such as DIVA, Nancy Wilson, Jack Sheldon, Diane Schuur, Ray Anthony, Lionel Hampton, Bill Watrous, and The New York Pops. Her international performances include concerts in Germany, Japan, Austria, France, Mexico, and the Caribbean. As a recording artist she has appeared on many major motion picture soundtracks, commercials, video games, and records including Alice in Wonderland, Superman Returns, and X-men 3. She is the first female trombonist to record on a major motion picture.
